Use airport arrival time, not just takeoff

LPIA advises arriving at least three hours before U.S.-bound flights and two hours before other international flights. Check your airline’s current instruction and use the more demanding requirement for your trip. Domestic departures need airline-specific guidance. The recommended airport reporting time is separate from your road journey.

Work backwards with a road buffer

For example, a noon U.S. flight means a planning airport arrival by 09:00 under the airport’s three-hour advice. From Paradise Island, add the expected 30–50-minute drive and a sensible traffic buffer before choosing the hotel pickup. This is an example, not a promised schedule; the airline and confirmed provider should verify your actual timing.

Why U.S. preclearance matters

Eligible U.S.-bound departures complete U.S. border formalities at Nassau before boarding. This is additional departure processing, not a reason to arrive late because the destination airport may be simpler. A private vehicle or an airport fast-track purchase does not guarantee exemption from airline, security or border queues.

Confirm the details the previous day

Check the departure date, flight, destination, terminal instructions, local pickup time, exact lobby and luggage count. Nassau uses Eastern time with daylight saving; use the local date and time on the itinerary. A return included in your budget is not a reserved vehicle until the provider confirms it.
