Report the missing bag before leaving NAS
If your checked suitcase does not appear at Lynden Pindling International Airport, speak to your airline or its handling representative before heading to the vehicle meeting point. Ask where to report a missing bag for your particular flight. Keep the baggage tag and flight details ready, describe the case and give a contact number you can use in The Bahamas. Save the report reference and the instructions for checking progress. A baggage tag identifies the checked item; it is not itself confirmation that a missing-bag report has been created.
Airline baggage case or airport lost property?
A checked bag that did not reach you is an airline baggage matter. A phone or jacket left in the terminal is a different lost-property enquiry; LPIA publishes a Lost & Found service for lost items. If you are unsure which applies, ask airport staff to direct you to the appropriate representative. Do not assume that a general airport lost-property enquiry replaces the airline's missing-bag report, or that your transfer provider can file it for you.
Use your airline's instructions, not another airport's process
American Airlines tells international passengers to report delayed bags on arrival and before leaving the airport. Its advertised mobile reporting option for trips ending in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands should not be assumed to apply at NAS. British Airways describes reporting to an agent or, where available, a reclaim-area kiosk; it also offers an online route for passengers who have already left. These are airline examples, not one procedure for every Nassau arrival. Confirm your carrier's requirements and any necessary customs paperwork directly.
Update your airport pickup while the airline handles your bag
Tell the contact named in your transfer confirmation that you have landed but are still dealing with a baggage report. Flight tracking alone cannot show that you are ready to leave the arrivals area. Give your booking name, flight and current location, then ask for the next update time and the meeting instructions to use when you are ready. Keep your phone reachable. If a report takes longer than expected, send another update rather than assuming the original pickup remains unchanged.
A short message to your confirmed provider
You can adapt this message: Our flight has arrived at NAS, but a checked bag is missing and we are speaking with the airline. Booking name: [name]. Flight: [flight]. We are currently at [location] and are not ready for pickup. Please confirm the waiting allowance, when you need our next update and whether the pickup arrangement must change. Send it to the provider already confirmed for your journey; this website is not a live baggage or dispatch helpline.
Confirm waiting time and any new pickup
Check when the included waiting period starts, whether a charge applies and what happens if the assigned vehicle cannot wait. A replacement time or vehicle needs confirmation. Do not buy another ride on the assumption that the first reservation has been cancelled or refunded. Equally, do not leave the baggage process unfinished merely because a driver is outside. Resolve the airline's required steps and ask the actual transport provider to confirm a workable onward plan.
Agree where your bag should go before travelling to the hotel
Ask the airline what happens next: whether it expects to deliver the bag or requires you to collect it, how to update your location and how it will contact you. Do not treat a tracking update as a confirmed delivery appointment. Keep the report reference accessible and check that the telephone number and address are correct. If your stay moves between hotels, explain the dates at each address and update the airline when the receiving location changes.
Use the actual hotel and accommodation name
For an Atlantis stay, identify your actual accommodation, such as The Royal at Atlantis or The Reef at Atlantis, instead of giving only the resort name. For Baha Mar, distinguish Grand Hyatt, SLS or Rosewood. Ask reception whether and how it can receive the delivery for your stay. Private rentals need the full address, a reachable host and any access instructions; do not assume an unattended gate can accept a suitcase. A delivery address is an instruction to verify with the airline, not a transport service supplied by this website.
A later airport collection is a separate arrangement
If the airline asks you to return, confirm that the bag is available, the collection location, access arrangements and what identification or authorisation is required before arranging a car. A driver cannot automatically enter a restricted area or receive baggage in your name. Any additional airport journey or waiting must be agreed and priced separately with the provider. NAS is on New Providence and Paradise Island is road connected; a bag needed on another Bahamian island requires a separate onward arrangement with the airline or relevant operator.
Missing baggage questions
Can I leave NAS after reporting a missing bag?
Ask the airline to confirm that your report is recorded and that you have completed its required steps, including any applicable customs instructions. Keep the reference and confirmed delivery or collection plan before continuing to your hotel. Reporting does not guarantee a particular delivery time.
Can my transfer driver collect my bag later?
Do not assume this is included or permitted. The airline must confirm any authorisation and collection requirements, and the actual transport provider must separately agree availability, access, waiting and the complete fare. No baggage collection service is promised here.
Plan your arrival with the pickup guide. Our operations will start in January 2027; booking and WhatsApp actions are currently paused. For an existing journey with another provider, use the contact on that provider's confirmation. Report missing baggage directly to your airline.
